Catherine Ryan is the owner and founder of Catherine Ryan art image design, LLC, an advisory firm specializing in contemporary and American art.

With more than 30 years of art world experience behind her, offering art advisory services continues to be one of Ryan's primary areas of consulting along with her work as an independent curator/historian, writer, and more recent jobs as designer. Ryan advises private clients and institutions mostly on the acquisition and sale of art though galleries, private dealers, primary and secondary markets, and auction. She helps develop curated collections.

The business is now based out of Gloucester, Massachusetts. Before moving to Gloucester in 2006, Ryan was an art dealer and gallery co-director in New York City for more than 20 years, art advisor, and independent curator/historian. Ryan spent those years working with some of the foremost museums, dealers and collectors. The gallery was a founding member of the International Fine Dealers Print Association (IFPDA), and later a member in the Art Dealers Association of America (ADAA). It represented work across media and was committed to building careers for contemporary artists and estates.

She is an ardent Gloucester resident, wife and mother of two. Ryan has served the arts and her community, engaging in several volunteer civic activities and pro-bono design projects. Boards and commissions include: curating and on-going expertise for the Gloucester HarborWalk since 2010; Mayor’s Representative on Gloucester’s Committee for the Arts since August 2012; and instrumental in forming Gloucester's downtown Cultural District (GHCD) (2011-2014). She served on the Gloucester tourism commission and Wenham Museum Council. She grew up on the North Shore and visited Gloucester and Cape Ann ever since she was a girl. Her parents lived in Gloucester nearly 30 years. Many artists and their families that she worked with also had Gloucester ties.
